Eternal Father, Strong to Save
This intriguing setting of the hymn tune MELITA has a haunting, slightly dissonant introduction which gives way to a verse of the tune underpinned by a slightly unsettled malleted accompaniment. Further verses explore different moods and emotions before a return to the feeling of the opening. Rhythmic challenges include sixteenths barred by stresses rather than beats as well as syncopated accompanimental patterns. A worthy choice for the ensemble wanting something a little different.
