(not) Alone
The feelings and worldviews of those struggling with mental health issues and facing isolation are illustrated in this hopeful work. Drawing from his own experiences with depression and anxiety, the composer uses lyrical melodies, strident and angular segments, and even a 12-tone moment (carefully scored and constructed to be achievable by younger players) to bring audiences and players into the world of those who suffer silently. The work also includes optional solos for all instruments to allow you to pick your strongest soloists. Dramatic, powerful, and moving, this work is part of Standridge's unBroken Project, designed to break down barriers and normalize discussions about mental health.
